Having spent years working over the road from Gripsure’s HQ in Cornwall, Angus Fosten knew just where to go for some high-quality, non-slip decking for his garden. He has used up to 1,000 metres of our striking-looking dark Bamboo boards to make a unique decking area outside his home.
Angus has worked opposite Gripsure in the Cornish town of Bugle for six years. He was impressed with how our business is run and the quality of our products. When the time came to replace the ‘tatty’ and slippery existing decking area in his garden, Angus, who works for a company specialising in water quality measuring equipment, wanted to keep things very local.
“My office is in the same business park as Gripsure, so I see the staff working there every day,” said Angus. “We’ve always worked around one another and they have never been anything other than considerate and helpful.”
Angus also liked the look of the decking, which is crafted from sustainable fast-growing Moso Bamboo. Like all Gripsure decking, it is sourced from PEFC and FSC-certified timber.
“I preferred the look of Gripsure’s range, compared to other products on the market,” said Angus. “It looks right and is in keeping with my house and the garden. There are lots of trees around us and I felt that other types of decking would have jarred with the surroundings.”
Angus, who lives with his wife and daughter, was also conscious about the safety aspect. He wanted to have a level decking area, which the family - including more elderly members - could enjoy all year round.
“The old decking was very, very slippery,” said Angus. “I was worried about my elderly in-laws walking around on it. Having something that was non-slip was very important. I was also looking at longevity. With a project like this, you want to do it once and never again!”
Our durable and safe underfoot decking boards each have special anti-slip inserts. Our Bamboo decking has an expected service life of between 30 and 50 years, plus a 10-year non-slip performance warranty.
Angus now has a stylish, safe and level outside space to enjoy with his family. They have already spent the summer sitting and enjoying al fresco meals, overlooking the recently landscaped garden. The plan is to make the most of the sheltered decking area all year round.
“You can sit quite comfortably out there – it’s been great,” said Angus, who has even used some of the surplus Gripsure decking offcuts to clad some handmade planters, adding to the overall look and finish of his garden. “We’ve been really pleased with how well it’s worked,” added Angus. “Gripsure were so easy to deal with.”
Gripsure is a global brand but we’re proud to work with our local customers.
